The Heirs: Epitome of Korean Dramas

Time check: 3:11 a.m.

I do not know how to begin. This is not a review, rather more of an "appreciation post" since to be honest, I'm not yet done watching the twenty episodes of The Heirs (Korean Drama). It is currently being aired on ABS-CBN and people who has an iWantTv account and app on their mobile phones can watch it online for free like what I've been doing. Ok, here it goes. I've watched a lot of Koreanovelas such as To The Beautiful You, Dream High, and Boys Over Flowers but this one, The Heirs is my favorite. Since the story revolves around a forbidden love, it made me wonder, if it would ever have a happy ending. I'm just too done watching tragic stories.

Going back to The Heirs, this one is quite unique since it features two rich men named as Ryan (Lee Min-Ho) and Dino (Kim Woo-Bin) (in the Philippines, they used different names), one who fell for the poor girl Julia (Park Shin-Hye) instantly, while the other one, bullied the girl first until he eventually ended up falling for her as well. Unlike other Korean dramas, the lead character (Ryan) is a wealthy man but an illegitimate son of the owner of the Empire Group. His true identity and his biological mother's existence were kept private because his father believes that if someone happens to figure it out, it would be a shame for the company, thus ruining their reputation. Moreover, Ryan is already engaged to Rachel (Kim Ji-Won) Dino's "future" stepsister which made the story a lot more complicated. Unlike Ryan, Julia is single but her mother works as a family maid in Ryan's house (one of the reasons why Julia lived with Ryan and his family). Despite all odds, Julia and Ryan fought for their love even if everyone around them believes that they are not meant for each other.

Love really conquers all.

I'll write a review soon after watching all the episodes.

P.S. If you have watched To The Beautiful You, you'll noticed that most of the actors there are in The Heirs as well.
